The purpose of Fundamental Rights is to act as limitations, not only upon the powers of the Executive, but also upon the power of the Legislature.

The concept of fundamental comes from USA.

Fundamental rights in the Constitution of India constitute the longest description in the world.

The right to freedom of: speech, assembly and religion have been adopted from USSR

They include:

Right to Equality (14-18)

Right to Freedom (19)

Right against Exploitation (23-24)

Right to Freedom of Religion (25-28)

Cultural and Educational Rights (29-30)

Right to Constitutional remedies (32-35)

Right to freedom and equality before law are an adoption from the French

rights
