Tourism in India


In India tourism has emerged as an instrument of employment generation, poverty alleviation and sustainable human development. During 2008-09, direct imployment in the tourism sector was estimated to be over 50 million. Tourism promotes national integration and international understanding and gives support to local handicrafts and cultural activities.
