7. Bokaro, Bharat Steel Limited (BSL)

The Bokaro Steel Plant was located with the help of the Soviet collaboration in 1964. It obtains its iron ore from Keonjhar District; coal from Bokaro, Jharia, and Kargali coal mines; lime from Daltonganj in Palamu District; dolomite from Bilaspui District; and water from the Tenu Dam across the Damodar river.

Bakaro is essentially a flat product plant, and the hot and cold rolling mills are its main production units. Its sludge and slag are being used in making fertilisers at Sindri.
