Third Five-Year Plan (1961-66)

There was emphasis on the expansion of basic industries like iron and steel, fossil-fuel, power, and machine building. The Ranchi Machine Tool and three more IIMT units were established. Machine building, locomotive and railway coach making, ship-building, air-craft manufacturing, chemicals, drugs, and fertiliser industries also made steady progress.
