The Chotanagpur Plateau, stretching over Jharkhand, O disha, Chhattisgarh, and Dandakarnaya are included in this agro-climatic region. The mean monthly temperature ofjuly ranges between 25°C and 35°C and that of January between 15°C and 25°C. The mean annual rainfall ranges between 75 cm and 150 cm. Soils are red and yellow.
The agriculture in this region is mainly rain-fed The main crops are rice, maize, millets, rag, oilseeds, gram, and tobacco.
The cultivation of high value crops like oilseeds, pulses, vegetables can increase the income of the far mers. Water-harvesting and watershed development as well as soil conservation practices can make the agriculture more remunerative.
