2. The Northern Dry (Wheat) Region


This region stretches over Punjab, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, north-western Madhya Pradesh, and irrigated parts of Rajasthan. The average annual rainfall in this region is less than 75 cm. Parts of it are adequately irrigated by canals and Lube wells. The main crops of this region are wheat, maize, cotton, mustard, gram, rice, sugarcane, and millets.
