High Agricultural Productivity

It may be observed from Fig. 10.2 that high agricultural productivity is found in the Satluj-Ganga Plain, the Brahmaputra Valley, the delta regions of Godavari, Krishna, and Kaveri rivers. In these areas either the irrigation facilities are well developed or there is adequacy of rainfall over greater part of the year. Wheat,

rice, maize, pulses, sugarcane, and oilseeds are the main crops grown in the high agricultural productivity regions. The farmers, especially that of Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh are no longer subsistent as most of them are doing agriculture as agri-business.
