The Ravi (Parushni or Iravati)


It flows for about 725 km and drains 5957 sq km area in India.The Ravi rises near the Rohtang Pass in Kullu, very close to the source of the Beas river. It drains the western slope of Pir-Panjal and the northern slope of Dhauladhar Range. Below the Chamba Town, it turns to the south-west, cuts a gorge in Dhaula Dhar Range and enters the plain of Punjab. In Punjab plains, it runs along the Indo-Pak boundary, along Gurdaspur and Amritsar districts, before entering into Pakistan.
