5.1.4.3. Role of Voluntary Organizations

One of the weaknesses in the political strategies of women’s organisations in the 1950s and 1960s was their inability to mobilise ordinary women and failed to address the issues that concerned them. The lack of efforts to reach to the masses and expand the base of women’s movement limited its effectiveness and agenda for action. The position of peasant and working class women deteriorated and only a small minority of women benefited.
